Default Thrush smell

Everyone I know says you know when a horse has thrush because you can smell it. What exactly does it smell like? I think one of the horses at the barn might have thrush because she has a slightly funky aroma when you pick up her feet. But I've never smelled it before and there wasn't anyone around I could ask.

It has a kind of putrid aroma not like the normal horse hoof smell. When you get a wiff you'll know it. Best if in doubt to go ahead and treat it. Thrush can't live when exposed to the air so keeping the hoof picked is the best medicine. We use Kopertox too.
