Tight winter back

In the winter my horse's back gets tight. He's cold and has to walk in an awkward way because of ice. Because of this, when I first canter him he bucks to stretch his back. It's not enjoyable to ride a bucking horse and I'm sure he still can't fully stretch his back when I'm riding, even if I let him buck. So if I set him loose in the arena before I ride to let him buck and stretch as he pleases occasionally, will that be ok? Can I still ride after?
