Exclamation Torn Urethra in a Gelding?

So today I tried this horse and he was absolutely perfect! Both on ground and under saddle, but before I buy I need to show the videos to my trainer to make sure she approves as she was not able to make it. There is one more thing that I need your help with about 1 and half years ago he tore his urethra they said that they had a small surgery and has never had a problem, so some help on this subject.

He was trailered to a show and they set him up in his stall and everything and then left. The next morning they showed up and there was blood in his stall and on the walls and they later found out that he had torn his urethra and they had a small surgery and everything went great. (By the way he is a gelding)

Sounds like this is something you will be paying for every now and then with this horse, not something I'd want to take on.
I'm wondering what on Earth he is doing to cause it to tear or is there an underlying health issue that causes it...?

Green Broke
I would suggest speaking with the vet you will be using for the PPE and asking specifically about the issue, any long-term concerns, etc. You may also need to ask for the contact info of the vet who performed the procedure in case your vet wants to speak directly with him/her about the specific injury and the procedure that was used to correct it as those can play into whether or not an injury will have long-term effects.
