UGH my baby makes me worry

okay two problems........

First: Phantom seems to be gaining weight but he is not gaining it like I want him to. He is still too skinny for my liking. I mean I can tell he is gaining muscle and fat back but it's still making me nervous. He's healthy.... and he eats beet pulp mixed with senior feed in the morning and then he gets senior feed at night. Also he is about 21 yrs old. He is about in between a 3 and a 4 (leaning more towards 3) on the Henneke Body Scoring Condition Chart. ( Henneke Body Scoring - Habitat for Horses - Equine Protection Organization - Horse Rescue, Rehabilitation, Horse Education and Adoptions)
I dont know what else to do!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Second: As if i didn't have enough to worry about with his weight.....(I swear he is like a child trying to push me just to see how far i will go till i have an emotional meltdown he knows i worry LOL) He goes and rubs his head on his stall and rips off his hair and a few layers of skin!!!!!!!! It obviously hurts him because he rears up when you try to put something on it. So we put some antibiotic on it and gave him a bute. Any suggestions on what else to do would be great. It's too dark to tell much about it now so we don't exactly know how deep it is yet. I'll update everyone once we figure out what's what. Ugh I swear this horse justs wants to keep scaring the heck out of me hahaha.

as far as the weight it will come it takes a while. its amazing how quick they can lose and how long it can take to gain. As far as the injury I hope the best for you and him.

What feed have you got him on? I had great success with Carolina by adding BOSS to her pellets and feeding her three times a day instead of just twice.

He's on Strider and he also gets free choice hay all day. I've thought about trying weight builder but I don't know if it will work due to his age.
