Feb 18, **note** these pictures were taken pre-cleaning... I got into my little routine and completely forgot to take pictures post-cleaning till after the polo wrap was back on...
When I bought him, he was a good 200-300 lbs underweight so I decided to stall board him so he could pack on the pounds. He was turned out during the day in a smallish pen by himself, it was plank with a hotwire running along the top of the planks (top and bottom) so the horses wouldn't chew the wire. Somehow he got his foot above the plank but under the wire and ripped the wire out, cutting his leg. That white thing in the first picture is a flexor tendon that was 25% cut. The kicker.... ? He was stalled the night after he cut his leg, and turned back out in the morning for a couple hours before anyone noticed that he had cut himself. Vet sait it was over 18 hours old by the time he saw it.
In that case I would strongly recommend you to switch boarding companies. If they did not even say a simple sorry for not getting it right away then they don't deserve your business.
I understand that the accident happened, but if it was my horse (and this is just my opinion, but) I'd be ****** that it went unnoticed for so long. Scrapes I understand but thats a fairly major flesh wound and I can't imagine him not being lame with something like that on his leg. On the positive, it looks great now, I've been there with the cleaning before and it is definitely an undertaking. You did a great job with it.
Wow, that looks so much better. Poor guy. Looks like it is going to heal up nicely. Is he lame on that foot? I guess not with some of the pix you have posted. I am so glad that he is doing better. It shouldn't be much longer and he will be all healed up.
Hey, looking good! You've been so patient and attentive to this. Denny's lucky to have you. And due to it's location, if the hair grows back white you can pretend it's just his sock! (Gotta find a positive swing in there somewhere.)
Thank you guys for your positive comments, I really appreciate it.
