Indy has put on loads of weight and is now completly sound. We are working on trying to build up her muscles but I've been mostly in bed for two months. Apparently being pregnant doesn't agree with me. Lol, at the begining of summer I said I would loose 30 pound so I could ride Indy. Then I found out I was pregnant and I wouldn't be able to do that. I weighed myself yesterday... In the three months I've been pregnant I've lost 25 pounds. That is with me being in bed for 2 of those 3 months...Yeah, pregnancy definetly does not agree with me... Indy is getting lunged once in a while by the kids and rode around bareback. The most recent pictures I have are a month old but I'm hoping to get a few more soon.
The first picture is shortly after I bought her. She had been on all she could eat grass and hay for a bit over a month and had been dewormed once. I don't even want to think of how skinny she was when my friend got her from the auction. Or even a week or so earlier when I saw her first.
The second is after I had her for a month. She had been dewormed a second time and was being fed 1/3 mixed grain, mixed with 2/3 high fat high fibre chunks. She was outside 24/7 with a run in shed and plenty of shade. Rotated between two pastures. Each pasture is about 2 acres. She was being handwalked a few times a week and groomed and fussed over by a bunch of kids. Her feet finally got done and the farrier said from the shape and the bruising in her feet it looks like they haven't been done for about 2 years.
Myth= Free/Cheap horses are expensive.
Indy was $150 we keep her in a pasture with a shed for free and she is brushed and fussed over dailey. Other then deworming and feet trimming she isn't costing us anything.
