Good News....and....? news.....
They took about a gazillion x-rays today and found no masses, tumors, fractures, fusions, etc....
What they said is that it's not actually a lump or a mass but what has happened is the muscles around the joint have begun to atrophied, properly starting from the original issue. Best guess is, whatever happened was obviously a traumatic injury rather than an illness that caused the nerves to become damaged. The reason the lump, which isn't a lump is so noticeable now is because the muscles have atrophied enough that we are seeing and feeling facial structures that we wouldn't have seen before because of muscle coverage.
The question now becomes, does he not use his mouth correctly because he can't due to pain or paralysis. AND is this the worse it will get? Or will his condition continue to deteriorate.
SO...next step is to come out here and completely drug him to lay him down and then see if they can open his mouth when he's out. If they can, the issue may be that there is pain... They will at least be able to get in and do the float, which he desperately needs and then maybe see something on the inside.
We may have to take him to a specialist in the future but that is where we are at for now...
