    Vet Thinks Stetson has EEE

My daughter in NC has my (used to be stud) Stetson. Well, I just found out he may have EEE. I am devastated, waiting for bad news, this is like a nightmare....

I'm so sorry about this bad news. Was he vaccinated for the disease? What are his symptoms and how long have they been going on? Fingers crossed for good news for you, keep us posted.

Well, he is dead. The vet put him down at noon. In less than 24 hours, a 1200, 16.2 hand 4yo horse is gone. Felled by a mosquito. He was vaccinated just before I brought him down to her last thanksgiving? They are having a real outbreak down there. My daughter feels bad enough without me pointing out that a vaccination in the spring might have prevented his death. I know she feels guilty enough. So please pray for us we are really hurting...

I am so sorry for your loss. We had to put a filly down last year even after a vaccine the vet said we must have got a weak or bad dose.
