Watery Mysterious Diarrhea??

Hey all.
Today when I went to the barn my 4 1/2 yr old mare had diarrhea. It was pretty intense there for about 45 minutes.
Watery green, no smell at all.
Gut sounds ok! No temp.
I kept a good watch on her for quite sometime. Tried to give her some warmer water (it is 25-35 out w/ wet snow falling)
She just wanted to stick her nose in it and play, but wouldn't drink.
They came around and had just filled the water when I arrived so it was easy to see if she was drinking. Her gums were pink and no change upon pressing fingers to the gums.
She was fine to be eating.
The only thing that was done with her feed was approx, 4 days or so ago she was taken off the alfalfa and left with just her grass hay which is not a new load or anything.
I did try to call my vet ( since the call is free) ...I paged with no return call. I just watched and waited.
Since they also came through and cleaned her stall and added new shavings..It was easy to see if she any more episodes. I saw there was none...not even one for over an hour. I took the temp 3 times in 3 hours with the same reading each time (100.1)
Since she finally did drink some water I waited a while longer and left. The barn is aware of everything and I gave them a second vet to call if need be.
Not sure if there was really any other things to do.
She is scheduled to be hauled out on Tues for training. Hope it was nothing.
I live about 14 miles away but the hwy to the ranch can sometimes become real bad and we are expecting some heavy snow to come our way...Already snowing pretty good.
I will be up at the crack of morning and heading out if the weather will allow.
They do have people on property and also do a night check.

Anything exciting happen in her life lately? Trailers coming and going? Pasture changes? Did you worm her anytime in the last week? Is she in heat? I've seen any of those things cause diarrhea in horses, especially younger one's like yours, but still that's kind of weird, especially if none of these options are applicable.

Peace, Love, and Ponies of all shapes and sizes.

Yes I do think it is weird too.
At about 4 pm yesterday the barn called and said she was still eating, had two BM's one was not quite watery and the other was formed poop and she had drank more water.
So who knows what it could be.
I think that she is a big shocked with the snow and not having much to do. It may even be causing a slight depression.
I finally talked with a different vet than my regular vet and we discussed all that she has had going on since her arrival to me.
I am supposed to check in with the vet this morning. I will be heading out to the ranch this morning...
I also read that the causes of diarrhea sometimes are never ever found.

It can often be stress related. In bad weather like we've had around here, I've seen it in horses that are normally out in the pasture with their herd that folks have decided to stall for a few days, especially if they are away from their buddies.

On the sixth day, God created the Quarter Horse.
On the seventh day, he Painted the good ones.

Painthorse...
I agree.
I think that if the snow was minimal things may have been different.

She was great this morning. Normal.
She will be going to a trainers place on Tuesday and he has pastures with run ins.
I think this will be better suited to her liking. When she returns I am going to have her put in the mare pasture or into the Piped paddocks with run ins until the weather is a bit better.
Unfortunately I traded one thing for the other. She no longer has diarrhea, but my gelding twisted his right front leg this morning....enough to cause him some pain and what not....:( if it's not one thing its another.....
We will get through as usual. I am glad she was better since she will go to the trainers place on Tues.
Bummer is I will not be able to go see her every day. Maybe 1-2 times a week weather permitting...
Thanks for the comments...
