weaing an putting weight on mare

We just moved baby over to wean both are doing well! When I bought mare she was under weight as it was the colt is in great shape. Should I take grain away from mom for a bit to help dry up? She has free hay and gets alfalfa hay 2x daily. I want to get her weight up in a safe way. Any suggestions? She is a 15yr old peruvian paso if that helps. Thanks

At the moment I am feeding my horses sweetbulk, millrun or pollard and jenco cool controll and my horses r doing really well on it. Maybe you should try it. It's not very expensive and lasts a while too. Another good feed is speedybeat it is great at putting weight on and muscel. And it has no steriods in it!!!
