I have a weanling colt (Quarter Horse) that has started showing signs of locking rear ankles. Sometimes when he stands still he will not stand with flexion on the ankles like normal and when he starts walking it kind of looks like the ankles are locking as he walks. Out on pasture roaming 20 acres while with the herd, I never noticed this. I even have video clips of him walking find out on pasture.
What is causing this? Possible stress from just being weaned? He has been weaned now for 24 hours. He is in a small paddock area with a pen mate and has plenty of room to move around.
I am very curious to know what is going on.
