I think it's a good idea to either keep her blanketed all the time, means a lighter one for the day and a heavier one for the night, or leave them off all the time and let her grow fur. Come spring you can leave off the blanket in the warmest hours of the day.

Regarding the omega horseshine, one cup weighs 3.5oz. TSC carries it, 40$ for 20lbs, so it'll last a while. Start out slow and I think more than 1/2 cup daily would be okay for her. Split between two meals.

Now with the salt, she should be drinking more anyway, but when it's really nasty and cold outside mine always appreciated tepid water, would drink two buckets right away. I did have a colic case in winter due to cold water. Senior horse, too.

When I had my horses NOT at home, I used to measure out the supplements and put them in little sandwichbags, took them to the barn so if somebody else was feeding all they had to do is just dump it in the buckets.

    Green Broke
She is the fluffiest out of 25 horses except for the icelandic which I'm pretty sure always looks like a teddy bear lol. She grew her coat in less than a week. Last winter when I blanketed starting in January you only knew she wore a blanket because that part was clean lol. She doesn't even get hot under her medium weight during the day when it's 40.

In the next month or so we may be making a trip down to TSC, since it's an hour away. I have to finish her rice bran before I will try any flax just to be on the safe side.

Heaters will be going in the tanks soon. I may buy a heated bucket for her stall for the winter. Once again this morning when let out of her paddock she ran into her stall all on her own.

I make her feed up the night before for the bm to feed her in the morning. She adds liquids in the morning.

She will be in her stall tonight because we went on a good trail ride today, that way she can just chow down on hay. She typically gets more hay after a long ride anyways.
