weird little scabs/crusty stuff?

My mare has some weird crusty scab stuff on her belly right in front of her udder. At first I thought it was dirt when I was grooming her today (hadnt groomed her since saturday but didnt notice it then). I couldnt tell if it really hurt or irritated her at all because she hates being brushed on her belly but she didnt seem any more angry with me brushing her and poking at it than usual. Any ideas about what it could be? No idea where it came from or what would have caused it or even what I should do to get rid of it, so any ideas would be helpful! As a little history she doesnt have any other skin issues and its not excessively muddy here or anything. She lives in a stall and is outside for approximately 10 hours during the day. Let me know if you want more info about her.
thanks!
