weird rash on face

I have been very sick for the last few weeks from a vacation in a far off land.Long story short I haven't seen my horse in 3 weeks, I went out yesterday and he had this on his face. Made him a bit head shy.At first I thought it was dirt. But after riding I bathed him and it never came off.Its flaky but dosnt flake off easy. It was not raw in any way. I have asked the barn owner to go take a look at it.She just hasnt got back to me yet about it.I was going to try my luck here

Dirt and dust getting in pores maybe? Sun damage possibly.

Could be the heat has gotten sweat and dust to almost make a paste?

Try wiping with ACV, the Heinz brand, on a sponge.

ok will do..Will this cause itching.He was head shy and was rubbing the area on railing?

Is the hair coming off with it? The picture isn't the best but I would clean it really well with an antifungal shampoo just to be safe. Since we have had really hot and humid summer I've seen a lot of funky skin things going on.

I also think it might have something to do with sweat and dirt on such a delicate area.

Several of the horses, including one of mine have something like this this year. Doesn't seem too itchy, more like balding spots or something. We haven't been able to figure it out. We have even treated for NTW's with ivermectin.....but still have it. We have had lots of heat and lots of flies....so who knows.

My horse gets really itchy on his dish at this time of year and rubs himself raw on whatever he can. I started putting diaper rash cream on his head and that solved it.

I was thinking fly related since I haven't been there for three weeks to spray him. The barn he is in does not have a system. All the horse owners are out several times a week do its so active they don't need to do anything about fly spraying. I could have had them do it but I wasn't anticipating the delay here. Everyday I thought I was going out there. But his legs weren't chewed up and that's the first place I notice fly problems so I don't know. It does not peal off easy and there is no hair where it is. Might be hair under it bit I can't tell. I am going back out on Tuesday. I will get a better shot

It looks almost like an old bump or scrape that is healing over and starting to peel. Or sunburn. We have a couple rescue horses that have been bullied by other horses and this is what their bites/scrapes eventually look like after healing over. The dead skin starts peeling off and new hair should start growing back in. If it's been 3 weeks since you've seen him....I would guess he got the scrape shortly after the last time you saw him.

This could be fungal, and I agree with trying ACV, but beware, Heinz is not ACV, it's apple flavored/colored white distilled vinegar. Huge difference. ACV has probiotics and anti-fungal properties, where regular vinegar is a good cleaner, but not the same thing. Whenever you use ACV makes sure it's raw, otherwise it won't really do any good. :)
