Thanks for the reply Nicole. No, Its neither too wet or too dry. I just bought the horse and can only assume that the previous owners were either too cheap or too stupid too call a farrier.(or vet, or dentist for that matter) Her hooves are not her only problem.
The reason I'm asking about the farrier is that I'm in the same boat as you- I would like to learn more. My hoof knowledge is limited I only started using this farrier recently, so I'm just interested to hear what people think of his work as I really don't know enough about farriery to spot things someone more experianced might see.
I like this farrier so far as he's always on time, always answers/calls back quickly, very good with the horses,especialy this one who I'm pretty sure never saw a farrier before and wasnt exactly polite and he's also the only farrier who hot shoes in the area.
As I said, I don't know that much about shoing so interested in any any opinions, good or bad.
