what do you think of these hooves? (lots of pics)

Ok, so I will be the first to admit I don't know half as much about hoof care as I should but I am working on that.So I would welcome any opinions on this girls hooves. Did my farrier do a good job? Is there anything you would do different? Picture were taken 24 hours farrier left. She was hot shod. Any other questions, just ask.. will take a couple of posts to put up all the pics, sorry..

I am by no means a hoof expert at all, but those cracks do not look good. Is the area in which you are located very dry that would be causing them to crack? Also is there a reason for your concern about how the farrier did your horses hooves for you to be asking or did you just want to get a second opinion? Sorry just learning about hooves and how they are growing etc so I thought I would ask. The shoes look like they fit pretty well though and are molded for the feet correctly.

Thanks for the reply Nicole. No, Its neither too wet or too dry. I just bought the horse and can only assume that the previous owners were either too cheap or too stupid too call a farrier.(or vet, or dentist for that matter) Her hooves are not her only problem.

The reason I'm asking about the farrier is that I'm in the same boat as you- I would like to learn more. My hoof knowledge is limited I only started using this farrier recently, so I'm just interested to hear what people think of his work as I really don't know enough about farriery to spot things someone more experianced might see.

I like this farrier so far as he's always on time, always answers/calls back quickly, very good with the horses, especialy this one who I'm pretty sure never saw a farrier before and wasnt exactly polite and he's also the only farrier who hot shoes in the area.

As I said, I don't know that much about shoing so interested in any any opinions, good or bad.

I would try to work some hoof supplement or something into his feed that will help improve foot quality.

I don't think it's by any means a bad job. I do wonder, however, if the shoes are too small?

Certainly a HUGE improvement over the "before" shots, though. How long have you had this horse, and what caused the feet too get into such poor condition?
