What does red pee mean????

Hi there, 15 days ago I noticed my mare was peeing red because she has two white socks and I saw red liquid on her hind legs. Now today I noticed it again, I first thought it might be her heat cycle at first but 15 days is to soon for her to recycle. Do you think I should call the vet or does anyone know what this might mean??

We were thinking it could maybe be a bladder infection of some sort, I will probably call the vet tomorrow but any feedback would be great. Also it looks more like blood instead of dark pee

If it is really red, then it could be blood in her urine. A mare does not bleed while in heat, it is more a whitish discharge. The urine can get very dark at times depending on what is being fed, how much water she has drank etc. If it is blood , you need a Vet. Sometimes the socks will look very dark colored from urine and dirt stains.

Could be an infection or cancer.

Is it red like blood, or orange like orange juice? The dark orange is nothing to get alarmed about, it can be caused by what they are eating. The red, like blood color is something to concerned about, call a vet.
