    Most people have covered this, but pretty much ask your vet to see when they want to. As long as both testicles have decended than it should be fine. When I got my horse he was already gelded, but fairly young then. I'm assuming he was gelded at less than a year, because the first time I saw him was a just a year old, and already a gelding.

    Do it as soon as the weather permits. Mine was done at around 6 months and he's 5 1/2 and just had another growth spurt.

    Not to hijack the thread, but be aware that if you don't want another pasture breeding, you need to put boys with boys and girls with girls...he's soon going to have the equipment and hormones to do the job if he doesn't already...

    Our barn requires colts to be gelded by the time they are 8 months.
