White 'ball' protruding when my horse urinates

Hi there,

My 11 month old friesian filly has a White 'ball' protruding from her vagina when she urinates, not every time, but it has been noticeable for the last 24/36 hours. It feels hard to the touch, but retracts once she has finished urinating. Is this something that I should be concerned about or is it likely that she might be coming into her first season and that this is a natural occurrence?

That's her female parts, don't touch it, you could introduce bacteria inside of her.

I believe it is a natural occurrence - the muscles around the urethra (sp?) activate to get the last of the urine clear of the tract (thus reducing the chance of infection) and it makes the whole area expand and retract so stuff normally on the inside is visible for a brief period of time.
