Will the vet give medicine before or after?

So if my horse gets vaccinated, will the vet give them medication before he or she leaves for the possible side effects? Or will I have to pay for another barn call and the medicine if my mare gets bad side effects?

No, the vet will have the antidote with them, as the reaction is fairly swift.
