Go by " it never hurts" and " better safe than sorry".......at least for the nights they're out.

Plus, if anybody asks why you're doing it, which they will, just tell them what I told you why and "better safe...." you know the deal
Don't worry as long as it's above 45, but once it goes below you'll do them some good.
