I just bought a big jug of it as my coach used it all last season under her standing wraps to alleviate inflammation / soreness, but I've been reading up and some people say they will also spray it under their saddle pads before a ride (it helps their horses muscles loosen up) and all over after a ride, to help increase circulation and decrease muscle soreness.
Has anybody personally used it for any of the above? I can't find any 'in depth' information on it.
I have used witch hazel on me to reduce the itchiness of insect bites and my husband has used it for the occasional sore muscle. I believe it to be relatively inoffensive as astringents go.
Hberrie, you're crazy, pure Witch Hazel smells lovely  but maybe that's just me... but like I said, the stuff I bought with the alcohol mix? YUCK. Oh well, everywhere else tells me to mix it with alcohol anyway so I guess I'm stuck with the yuck smell...
That sounds interesting! I love using witch hazel for coat sprays (equine waterless shampoo lol) and on my own skin, but I havn't heard of it for sore muscles! Let us know what you find out!
I've never used it as a "liniment" but I use it for EVERYTHING! My boyfriend and best friend always make fun of me....zits, rashes, bug bites, cuts, sunburns, makeup remover, for razor burn, for external eye irritation...anything involving skin. I also use it on my Mastiff, she has really sensitive skin and is always getting rashes during season changes. I do not like the smell however! Best brands comes from CT
I am glad I am not the only one who doesn't like the smell. The smell is tolerable though for it's many uses. I stopped cleaning my face with it, though, because that was just too odorificus for me lol.
hberrie..you're too funny...I still use it on my face as long as I'm not seeing my boyfriend that day!! Because I REAKS!!!!
