Worming Schedule

Forgive me if this has already been discussed, but I couldn't find anything in my search of old threads.
I know to worm every 3 months and rotate wormers, however, are there certain types that are best to use at certain times during the year?
I just got her and she hasn't been wormed since last spring. I had a fecal exam done and it came back negative.
Thanks for the help :)

My vets, both in VA and NY stopped recommending rotation several years ago. We now do fecals quarterly and worm accordingly, BUT we do one power pack type wormer (that the vet recommends based on region) late fall after hard frost.

Yup, about that. But because our weather is so mild here in Louisiana I deworm spring and fall, fecals quarterly. I have never had a positive fecal.

Yeah, I have read about doing quarterly fecals and worming accordingly, however my vet recommended putting her on a regular worming schedule because she's at a boarding facility.

Our whole barn has made the switch, so we are fortunate. We are a small barn and can easily manage it. Perhaps you can do your own fecal the week prior to the barn getting wormer? And if your horse is clean, you could show that to the BO and not have it given? I just hate giving anything like that or antibiotics, etc that is unnecessary.

We also rarely need to worm other than the once a year. You will be surprised. Even horses in the same pasture one may need it and the other not.

I believe you, and I appreciate your input. However, I'm going to have to go with my vets recommendation. Who knows, maybe it'll change here too. So, does anyone know what types of wormers are best used at certain times during the year? I will call the vet tomorrow and ask, it's too late now. I found this, but I'm leery of going off something published by the people selling the stuff.
