Worming while on SmartPak (daily wormer) ??

I have recently begun my horse on the SmartPak daily wormer. Do I still need to worm him as I've done in the past?

He is not putting on weight, and I'm concerned he may have worms. I have been told that SmartPak does NOT kill all worms, and that I will need to worm him with wormers that will take care of the worms SmartPak does not kill.... I'm so confused and only want him healthy!!

Any ideas?? Please help!

It seems we did do a 6 month wormer when we used a daily.
You might call smartpak, I've always found the folks at the help desk to be very knowledgeable.

With the daily dewormers, you still need to deworm spring and fall with either ivermectin/praziquantel or moxidectin/praziquantel.

It is also a very very good idea to have your vet run fecal egg counts occasionally while on a daily dewormer due to the incidence of strongyles resistant to the pyrantels.

How old is your horse? What are his living conditions? Do you pick up feces at least twice a week if he is turned out in a paddock or pasture? What have you dewormed him with in the past?
