Yellow Penis

A friend and I went to look at a stallion for sale today and he has a bald face so at first I thought is was sunburn but now we are thinking possibly yeast infection??? He stuck out his penis a bit and it was yellow in color and the feeling on his face did not feel so much like a sunburn. Any reasons other than a yeast infection that would cause this and what could be used to treat it? The stallion is not used for breeding and is at pasture by himself, with little to no attention paid to him at all. I don't know if maybe it was a allergic reaction from something in the field or what. If you have experienced something like this please let me know. Thank-you!

I'm sorry, what? o_O

You thought his bald face was a sunburn/yeast infection? I guess I'm not understanding... if his face is white, the skin will be pink. When you say the feeling of his face... did it not feel like a normal face?

I've never heard of a yellow penis except maybe jaundice, which is no good at all. If you do purchase this horse, a pre-purchase vet exam should be done, so you aren't stuck paying for a horse with a failing liver.

If the skin color on the penis itself was yellow rather than just smegma, then that indicates liver damage which could be the result of toxins, trauma or infectous disease. Horses with liver damage can be more sensitive to the sun and end up with sunburned skin more easily.

A pre-purchase exam would definitely be a good idea if you are seriously considering this horse. And at the very least you should mention the odd things you saw to the horse's current owner and let them know that you think he might need a veterinary exam.

ok this is what i am taking from this. if the stallion has a bald face then it was indeed sunburn. depending on how severe the sun burn will decide how it feels. if his penis is pink skinned. when it gets dirty the schmega and such will be yellow looking. we have a horse here that when his sheath and such gets dirty his looks yellow as well. while it may be nothing you never really know so get that vet exam! it never hurts to know and be sure = )
