Amazing Oppurtunity...Should I Take It??

Okay, so I have been offered an amazing oppurtunity & I'd like to know what you guys think about it?

A family friend owns a horse farm a few hours away from where I live. She is looking for horse lovers for an apprenticeship with horse related things like training, starting, care, riding, coaching, etc. She has offered to pick up my horse and bring it to her barn in the summer so I can work with her and she can teach me some new things. Not only is she offering to do all of this for free..but she is offering to pay me for helping her!

I know this sounds very exciting and it is but I am one to think of all the downfalls of a situation at first so...
(don't get me wrong, I am so thankful to have an oppurtunity like this)
-I am worried because this is an English barn..and I am SO not a good English rider at all.
-I am not one who likes to be away from home with people I have never met before especially.

I'm thinking of asking if me and my cousin can bring our horses out there for a week to start and see how it goes?

We will be going down there sometime to meet her & her horses to see if we like it there shortly.

Let me know your opinion?

Thanks!!

Get it in writing, all your responsibilities, cost of boarding your horse. I have found that all too often the "student" becomes a barn slave. I've known barn owners to then tell the slave that there is a pile of money owing for horse board. This is why you need everything, all the i's dotted and t's crossed before you commit. Family friend situations are usually a red flag. Tread carefully.
