Arrow Groom Job/Chore-Lessons Exchange. West Michigan

Currently looking for a groom job, or chores-lessons exchange in west Michigan (holland, grand rapids and surrounding areas). 6years experience in groom-related jobs such as mucking, turn-out, grooming, show trimming, bathing, feeding and watering. Related stable jobs such as hay runs, tack cleaning and conditioning, weed-pulling, pasture picking and tack room organization.

    Equine Work Experience
6+ years experience in groom-related jobs (beginning at Therapeutic Horsemanship of West Michigan in 2008 and switching to Fieldstone Stable of Hamilton in 2012, continuing there to the present time.), 4+ years experience in exercise riding, at both THWM and Fieldstone. 2+ years experience in assistant training, one year at each stable. Summers of 2012 and 2013 included trading stable chores for riding time with private persons.

    Specialities
Equestrian Groom (groom-related jobs). Exercise Rider: Saddle time (mainly for green horses) and/or behavior correction. Each session begins with ground handling and showmanship. Assistant Trainer: Am learning how to begin teaching horses new concepts. I spent three weeks teaching a pony how to perform leg yields, slower western-pleasure jogs, and a correct head-set, all under the head trainerís direction and supervision. I continue to learn and improve on all the above listings.

    Type of Ride Work
The majority of my pleasure riding and showing is hunt seat, although I equally switched off at Therapeutic Horsemanship of West Michigan with dressage-style riding during my lessons. At Fieldstone Stable, I began riding Western Pleasure, and showed western style twice since then. My preference is hunt seat, although I'm comfortable riding in dressage and western saddles as well.

    Competition Details
I began showing at local fairs in 2009, until 2012 when I began showing approximately once a month with Fieldstone Stable at local open shows such as the Holland Western Saddle Club shows and the Hudsonville Open shows. I have also competed in the twice yearly fun shows that the Therapeutic Horsemanship of West Michigan hosts for all their lesson students. I usually show Hunt Seat, but have completed one dressage test and two western pleasure events. I usually place in the top 3.

    Contact/reference Details
Judy Gutierrez 9/1/2012- For a reference of my work, contact Judy Gutierrez at (231) 301-5139, or by email at Fieldstonestable@aol.com, who is the head trainer and instructor at, and owner of, Fieldstone Stable of Hamilton. I started as a working-student in the fall of 2012. Shortly after, I began taking riding lessons that evolved into becoming an exercise rider and finally as her assistant trainer.
