Looking for apprentice

We are looking for a full-time apprentice to help us ride both young green horses and learn to finish cow horses and make really solid trained horses.

We have living facilities for a single person (possibly a couple) but not a family. This is a no flair, no nonsense working ranch. We have 50 years experience training and finishing horses. [All that means is that we are now old and getting pretty useless.]

This is not a job for a beginner or someone that is not an experienced rider. It is ideal for someone that has ridden a lot of young horses, is young and athletic, hard working and really wants to learn how to take horses to a higher level. We have trained reined cowhorses and reiners and done quite a bit of cutting. Our focus now is on all-around horses that make useful horses for about anything you can do on a horse. We keep cattle and bison to work, want to be able to rope and doctor cattle off our horses and want a relaxed obedient horse that goes anywhere and does anything the rider wants.

We ride mostly our own home-bred horses. We have a huge demand for these really 'broke' horses but have gotten too darned old and decrepit to get it done any more.

There is no stall cleaning and few chores, etc. This is a riding job. If this sounds like something you might want to do, get in touch with us.
