Looking for place to rent in exchange for equine/animal care (CT)

I'm volunteering at a therapeutic riding center right now and have been since December of last year. I am finding that is all I care to do with my time! I see situations advertised online, posted by people who have an apartment or a couple of rooms to rent at a discount in exchange for help with their horses. That is what I'm looking for.

I would love to hear of any situation that is in any part of CT. I am hard-working, eager, enthusiastic, cheerful and passionate about animals. I've been bitten by the horse bug and now there is no turning back!

If there is only one room for rent, I would at least like it to be a large room, and have a half bath that would be my private bathroom. I can work any number of hours with the animals that we agree upon. I can give letters of reference from the therapeutic riding facility, as well.

Thanks for reading and I hope there is someone out there looking for someone like me.

Perhaps run an ad in an agricultural paper. I did, would up working with welsh ponies on a big ranch.

Thanks, Saddlebag. Sounds great! What magazine would you recommend? I don't know of any myself. If any of them have online classifieds, that would be quick and easy. Please let me know the names of some of the mags. I really have no clue.

maybe check with a local Marine union hall or tug boaters as well. I would have loved someone like you when I worked tugboats.
Most merchant mariners are split time, as in gone two weeks home two weeks, or one month one month.

Now there's something I wouldn't have thought of! But a good idea. Thanks for your input. I ended up hearing back from a few people who I had contacted about their posted situations wanted ad and so far nothing is coming together. This last one would have been pretty close to ideal but she was a cat person and had no room in her house my my wonderful dog. I can't go where she is not welcome. She just turned 9 and we've been amigos since she was 8 weeks old.

I posted an ad on Craigslist but I still need to look into those agricultural magazines.

Thanks for all the ideas! Keep 'em coming!
