Exclamation Looking for some equine opportunity near the Dallas, TX area!

Hi there everyone!

I am going to be attending the University of Texas in Arlington and living in the Grapevine area starting in the spring (January specifically). I currently live in Brandon, FL and have been riding for about 10 years now. Where I live I have been blessed with numerous opportunities to not only volunteer my time and abilities in the horse world, but also be paid for it.

I am hoping that there might be such opportunities out near the Dallas area. The research I have done haven't really taken me anywhere, and I have found MANY Western facilities but not much English. I'll post some of my experience below. Anyone have any leads of where I might be able to start looking, or any facilities in need? As of right now I would be just as interested in just volunteering, or working for lessons/rides until I've established myself well.

At age 9 I started riding as a Hunter/Jumper, getting slightly in to Jumpers around 13.

Realized that wasn't my entire passion so I switched to Dressage at 15. I've been riding Dressage and Equitation ever since. Recently I have found a joy in Working Equitation and a redeveloped a love for jumping. I am currently 19 going on 20.

Horsefleet Academy: 2006 to Present
Apprenticed lessons and at clinics. Stablehand, groomer, rider.

Dover Oaks Stables: January 2011 to Present
Stablehand, groomer, rider. Became an instructor in March 2011. Have given lessons to first time riders as well as more advanced children (ages 4-13).

RVR Horse Rescue: 2010-2011
Volunteered my services and riding abilities to them.

Sunshine Stables: 2007-2009
Professionally worked and maintained their show horses.

I have a special place in my heart for rescues and green horses, so my training specialties are there. But I can ride just about anything and give everything a chance. Pleaseee let me know what's out there! It's my biggest fear to get there and not have a facility to ride at. I don't want to quit my dream!

Go over to the coth (Chronicle of the Horse) forum, there's a TX woman with a thread titled "If I don't find a horse-girl soon, I'll go psychotic" -- paraphrased.

Not sure where in TX she is. Good luck!
