I was wondering If anybody could give me some tips and information on leasing horses. I sold a horse 2 years ago, and the people were moving so we bought her back fall of last year. I won't have time to show her with the rest of my horses, as I didn't have time to fit her In to my show string. We don't want to sell her as we don't have to worry about the same thing happening again, but she was sold as a brood mare and they broke her so she could really use all the saddle time she could get. So we decided to go ahead and lease her out, do people normally lease them off the property or on? I'm worried of course about her getting possibly stolen or something health-wise going wrong. I was just wondering If Its not normal for people to ask that the horse stay on site for leasing? Now she Is registered In our name, but even so that doesn't stop somebody from running with her, and with the way things are right now If such were to happen the possibility of me getting her back is very slim. I'd really like some advice from people who have leased before, we plan on getting a contract drawn up but I'm hoping there's certain precautions to take to make sure somebody reliable ends up leasing her. What exactly should I be looking for in said people?
