I agree w some posts above, I know I would never sign a document which I am under no obligation to sign that binds me to provide an "ex" with free anything. I imagine most people feel the same way.

To me, this does not actually sound like a boarding agreement. Usually when couples break up, they immediately return all of each other's stuff. When pets are involved (including horses), I think it's typical to say "Yes, I will keep feeding your pet until you make arrangements to come get him." - with the assumption that you will be getting your fur-baby ASAP.

Certainly, he didn't say this was an indefinite arrangement?

Evidently the OP did not like the answers she got here.

She must have a pretty understanding ex. I would have kicked her and her horse to the curb.
