    Goodbye Dessie

:( Today I lost my dear friend.,Dessie. Dessie was a gorgeous 30 yr. Old Walker mare that I had for 11 years. This horse had the sweetest disposition you could ask for. She loved everybody, especially me. Old age and severe arthiritis convinced me to put her down today. I wrestled with this all night. My vet assured me that I was doing her a favor.. (Then why does it hurt so bad!! ) The other horses in the pasture are confused about her whereabouts. I buried her in her pasture near a group of trees that she enjoyed laying near. This morning I fed her, brushed her out and gave her an apple then handed her over to the vet and his technician. They led her out to the trees and quitely put her down while I sat in the barn and cried. I know that her time at my farm was a good and peaceful time so that is helping me cope. If animals go to heaven , (and I believe they do) , she is surely there. Rest in peace my friend.

You did the right thing... even though it's hard to say and do, you did do her a giant favor. She's in my prayers.
