Skylar was born on 5/28/09 he only lived for 24 hrs. I had to make the decision to put him to sleep. He got jaundice and his mothers milk made him very sick.. the colostrum caused him to jaundice. She was completely blind and had stepped on him. Her other foals have survived. He was a beautiful foal that was out of my stallion. That was the second medicine hat that my stud has produced. It hurt like crap to put him to sleep. But when we took him to the vet I asked them what his chances are and we were told only a 15 to 20% chance of survival. When they told me that I did what was in his best interest. That hurt because that was the first foal out of our stud that died. He was very much loved. He was already dying though because his kidneys had already began to shut down. I am thankful though that I ended his pain. He was a big boy to he weighed 105 lbs. At birth.
