Time was Just Too Short

18 months ago I found a beautiful boy and one I bonded with nearly immediately (OK, it took two rides). On Tuesday I had to make the heart wrenching decision to send him to the bridge after a kick to his hind cannon shattered the bone. Karma was with us when I found him; we shared a birthday. A thoroughbred, he had a silly boy personality, more colt than horse and entertained many with his tendency to stop, snort and circle by going sideways around things as silly as a different colored spot in the footing in the arena. To my dear boy Paddy/Highland Chief; the tears are easing but the heart is still very heavy. You healed my heart after I lost Linus and we only had 18 short months together, but, I wouldn't trade those months for anything even though it hurt so much to say goodbye. Run free my friend.

So sorry that you had to lose your friend so soon. We know when we take a creature into our heart that we will likely outlive them but we expect more time that you had. So sad.

His first, and as it turned out only, off property show pre-load shot. I thought he looked handsome; my trainer says he looked embarrassed :)

SO sorry and so tragic - Hope your heart heals soon, but I'm sure he will always be in it. The part about him being goofy is so true with some thoroughbreds. One I had totally freaked at butterflys!
