Question Apple Juice

I was wondering if it would be safe for horses to drink apple juice?
I was thinking with all the sugar and other things in apple juice that it may not be safe.

Would it be safer to mix it with water?
Or maybe even making my own apple juice?

Thanks :)

Are you doing this as a treat or trying to get a finicky drinker to drink?
While I don't know if it's ok to give to a horse, I have a few tricks.
You could mix it with water like you said, or, freeze it into icecubes. Give the horse a nice treat.

I am making it as a treat to serve the horses and people :)
Thanks for the cool ideas, maybe I can have water and put it the ice cubes in?

Green Broke
I give my gelding a bit of AJ after rides. It's the 100% juice kind, not the stuff with corn syrup, sugar and whatnot.

I don't give him much, just pour a bit into my hand and let him slurp it.

I tried white grape juice too, he hated that.

My mare far preferred a bite or more of a fresh apple than my trying to offer her a drink of apple juice.

Yeah, apples are high in sugar & I wouldn't feed them to horses with/at risk of IR etc but otherwise, as with lollies & kids, I don't think a small amount as an occasional treat is detrimental at all.
