friend has to change barns.. horse has no health issues and currently eats bermuda hay. new barn feeds teff hay.. board prices similar.. how do bale prices compare with bermuda and teff? is teff always avail in so cal? thanks
As for availability and cost....only you can find those answers for your particular area.
From what I read though Teff can be grown where many other grasses are having trouble flourishing... Teff Grass - Growing Teff
So Cal. sounds like a perfect area for this to grow.
If your friend is boarding and hay is included in the board price it should not really matter the cost or availability as that is the barns issue to have plentiful hay and consistent quality on hand to feed.
Most boarding barns of decent reputation have a reputable supplier for their hay needs.
Make some phone calls about cost between the two hays....
Remember different locations {stores} can charge different prices, have different quality of hay and may charge according to how much is bought at a time too.
