Technically, you are correct, alfalfa is high in PROTEIN, but that is metabolised as glucose in the liver, so horses that are sensitive to high sugar feeds should not have alfalfa. My TB cannot have it, it makes him super hot, and my QH with PSSM cannot have it because of the glucose reaction it causes.
