I wondered the same thing. I can buy flax seeds in bulk, but my food processor doesn't grind them well. I also know that when I was researching ground flax to add to my family's food, everything warned to use it within a few days or it will go rancid. So buying a big bucket of ground flax would seem useless.
My horses are on pasture or grass hay all year, with no grain of any kind, except the occasional handful as a treat. I've been thinking of adding BOSS and flax seeds to help skin, coat and hooves without weight gain. Am I throwing money away if I do this?
How much of each do I feed? I know I've heard about a cup or so of BOSS. How much flax seed?
