Angry BO bought some really exceptional hay here!!

    NOT!!!
And they are upping Board by $25 to pay for the Crap
It is good thing I put my moths notice in. They passed up really good quality hay for this stuff all to save a buck then raised out board on top of it.
I know they will be loosing 9 horses in a month and the Hay is just the tip of the reason why.
here is pictures of the nasty Hay. I btw went and got my own after I saw this.

This came out of half a bale

Agreeded. At least you have hay

Hay isnt a problem down here with boarding, the new place we are moving to use orchard/grass mix that is really nice but my aunt was saying hay was crazy this year and she was forced to board her horse since she couldnt afford the hay..

Blehh. I understand your frustration. I get grouchy when I find too many dead tree leaves in my hay, I couldnt imagine pulling all THAT out.

2 wire bales have gone down a couple bucks here in the last 3 months.

    T/a from 13 down to $11
    Coastal down from 12- $9
    O/a from 15- 12

I know at one point people were paying $20 for a bale of t/a 60lbs.

Im a believer in quality if the quantity is crap. I feel ya critter.

Trust me, down here in Texas we felt the pain of the drought/wildfires 1-2 years ago. It was $16-20 a bale for 40 lb weedy bales. We were lucky that my two horses had 8 acres all to themselves, but my friend was not so lucky.

That really is bad hay. You said this was the BO that bought the hay? I recall you saying they weren't "horsey"? Maybe they don't know any better? Of course they're going to go for the cheaper hay if they have no idea what the quality difference is. But good on you for going out and getting different hay that is better quality. I'm sure your ponies appreciate it. :)

I know how it is to have a BO that will buy crappier hay to have some money. I hate it. When you said it's crp hay did you mean actual crp hay or crap hay? If actual crp hay I wouldn't feed it either. To many issues with it this year.

Blah, my last batch of hay was soooo bad. It had tons of lambs ear (that soft weird plant) in it. I picked out as much as I could. That's the last time I leave my dad in charge of picking up hay for me while I was sick. I appreciate him for helping out and doing the best that a non-horsey person could do, but next time I'll be inspecting my hay reallllly well before buying.
