Cool Calories 100

looking for a new weight gain supplement for my tb and I just wanted people opinion on it, good or bad before I go out and buy it. I like that is 99% fat, the supplement I am feeding him now is only 40% and I feed him double which I guess would be 80% but its costing me about $25 per week in just his weight supplement. Crazy. Its something I only give him in the winter to help him maintain his weight cause he has a heck of a time. Without it he losses a good 30-50lbs per month.

Yep, I have used it.. Works wonders! Also, make sure your horse doesn't have worms and doesn't have any teeth problems.

I know this is an old thread but I was looking into Cool Calories to use with my TB gelding. TbLover, did you end up using it and if so what were the results?

I'll have to try it then. I am having difficulty finding a Canadian distributor though and shipping is a nightmare. I'll have to continue calling around and see if I can find it. Thanks for your response :)

I gave a half-dose to my gelding (since he's pony-sized) and he gained weight nicely. I also added beet pulp to his feed.

Ocean gets beet pulp too, and Step 8 and a bit of complete feed. He's just not gaining weight, just maintaining it and I would like to see him pack on some more pounds. So I figured we would test it out for a month or so and see how it goes.

I looooove cool calories especially when mixed with beet pulp. My 30+ year old rescue horse did amazing on it. I can't seem to find it in Manitoba though..

Ocean: Make sure his teeth have been checked for sharp edges and have the vet do a fecal egg count.

He is scheduled for dental work on the 20th and was dewormed 10 days ago with Quest Plus. So he should be good to go after his teeth are checked out.
