Question Do They Still Make Purina Equalizer?

Had my vet come out to see my boy today. She was thrilled with the weight I've managed to get on him in the last four months.

He was rescued about two years ago and adopted a few months after that, but the lady who adopted him didn't focus too much on getting his weight built up. When I got him in January, that was my first priority.

He's got a tummy now and lots more energy. We are trying to get his butt and his top line filled out and my vet wants me to move to a protein heavy weight supplement rather than the fat one I've been using. She recommended Purina Equalizer, and I've found lots of stuff written about it and recommending it, but I can't find it.

Do they still make it? Is it still called that? I know a lot of companies like to keep you guessing by renaming their products. If they don't make it any longer, can anyone suggest another similar product?

Thanks.

I don't know of a Purina Equalizer- maybe she meant Seminole Equalizer?

A ha...I've found a "purina equalizer' all over the net, but it doesn't look like it exists anymore, maybe she got her brands confused. I'll check it out. Thanks.

I'm not absolutely sure, but I suspect it's only available in Canada. I've never been able to find it on the US Purina site (I feed Strategy to my colt and needed to look for dealers), and but it's listed on the Canadian Purina site as manufactured in Canada. You could contact Purina and ask if there's any dealers in your area, or maybe ask your feed store if they could order it in for you? Good luck!

So there is a Purina Equilizer

I'm still guessing the vet meant Seminole, since you mention higher protein content. The Purina one is 12%, which is pretty normal for horse feeds. The Seminole one is 32% (which is also pretty normal, but only for ration balancers)
