Is this enough
I have a 17 hand lean thoroughbred who could use 50 or so pounds before winter, and a 16 hand heavier built tb i rescud back in january who was about 300-350lbs underweight (took a while to get rid of the massive worm burden) he could still use a good 150-200lbs im guessing. Anyways i think my 16 hnd tb would look nice at about 1200-1250 lbs ( hes taking at 1188, he looks nice now, no ribs visible but his hip bones are sticking out) and i think the 16 hand would look better at 1300 or so lbs (he is taping at 1196 right now)
They do not get worked much at all and are out 24/7 (in a dry lot at night with local hay in a slow feeder, and turned out to a grass pasture during the day) They are currently getting (excluding the grass they graze)
Am feeding 8-9am
3bs purina senior healthy edge
Smart gain 4
Pm feeding 6-7pm
5 lbs purina senior healthy egde
2 lbs beet pulp (cause they like it lol)
a joint supplment
smart gain 4
20lbs+ local grass hay (timothy/orchard blend).
I have calculated this to be about 30,000 calories. Is this enough to help them gain weight?
(i have tried rice bran and none of my horses with touch it and cant find a pellted form :(
