Feeding oats?

My mare is allergic to molasses and soy beans so I've just switched her to oats with a vitamin and mineral mix...but I was told to feed her just a "handful" of oats which isn't very specific so I wanted to see if anyone else feeds oats and how much you feed.

She is an easy keeper but active too...we Event and she gets ridden 4 to 5 times a week. Does anyone else feed oats and how much do you feed?

Below is a table on how much to feed oats that I found online. I personally feed sweet feed and pellets. Hope this helps you :)

Horses’ weight Oats per day 400 kg/ 881 lb 1.25 - 1.5 kg per day
or 2.75 - 3.3 lbs per day 600 kg/ 1322 lb 1.5 - 2 kg per day
or 3.3 - 4.4 lbs per day

I don't feed any grain or sweet feed so no help here :]

I've always only heard good things about feeding oats to horses; they're a time-tested good food. There are whole oats, rolled & crimped. You can easily find more info online.

Feed the steamed rolled/crimped oats... whole oats will pass right thru them

When I fed my horses oats with a mineral supplement, they ate one-half a cup of oats per day. They are very easy keepers on pasture.
