Hi all! Just had a quick question for you guys as I'm not too familiar with feeding oats. If all goes well, my new QH gelding should be coming home tomorrow (cross your fingers for me, please!). The lady I'm getting him from feeds him oats (I believe rolled oats). I know he probably will need something to bring up his calcium intake (right now he's getting alfalfa cubes). I was thinking of leaving him on alfalfa. We also have 5 acres of grass, and no other horses currently on the property, so he will have plenty of grass! Since I'm in Florida (so grass type is limited), I'll also be feeding varying types of hay. But, like I said, I'm not familiar with feeding just oats (Jack was on Seminole Wellness). Is there anything else I need to be adding to his diet? He will be ridden several times a week, mostly pleasure. His workload shouldn't be too intense!
