It is good that she is at least getting the 24/7 hay. If she were my horse I would either find her a feed that can be fed in smaller amounts with the same calories (5 lbs absolute maximum in one feeding), or see if another person at the barn who feeds their own horses will be willing to feed her for a certain amount of money. your other option is moving barns.

Everyone in your life is meant to
be in your journey, but not all of
them are meant to stay till the end.

Its just me and BO.. he has one horse and I have one..

Before I came he fed his once a day (quite a huge amount..) and I told him Amy needed feed twice a day and I fed morning and night.. well work got crazy and I could only come out once and he wouldn't even let me feed at all said he would take care of both feeds well he wasn't he was only feeding once a day and I asked how much and he told me and I was like that's way to much in a feeding!!! He said no everything will be okay he looks at me as a kid and I have no say so..

I do board for free but that is still my horse..

I feed tribute Kalm n ez (awesome feed NO MOLASSES) what if I cut out a scoop and a half of that and add one scoop of tribute k finish.. its like a calorie and vitamin booster so up the vitamins without the bulk? So she would get 2 scoops total still alot or cut the Kalmyk n ex down to only half with a scoop of the other.. thoughts? ?? Can post links to feeds if you'd like.

I love tribute's essential K as a ration balancer. Sometimes I have to use Purina Enrich due to supply issues where I live, but I really prefer the essential K.

Can you add oil to her feed? A cheap and dense way to add more calories - won't increase the bulk too much. You can start with just a little and gradually increase. Most horses can tolerate up to 1 cup poured over a meal.

What about offering her "snacks" of alfalfa pellets or beet pulp as you tack up/groom and after the ride? I know some folks will say not to feed anything before you ride, but check out research on this topic from the endurance world - probably not an issue unless your rides consist of REALLY heavy work. That way you could split her feedings into even smaller amounts.
