feeding OTT to gain weight
I have recently bought a OTT thoroughbred gelding (3 days ago) he is 4 and had his last start back in april. He is absolutly gorgeous, he has the sweetest nature, is very quiet but very alert and interested in whats going on.
He however looks terrible, I have wormed him and gave him a wash in some bacterial wash as he has hair missing everywhere and he is very light on, no top line at all, no bum and very ribby :(
Just wondering weather I should put him on weight lifter, have heard good things and bad things about it, or should I keep feeding him what I am which is.
Scoop = 2ltr container
1 barley - cooked
4 molo mix
1/2 cup rice bran oil
He gets this twice a day with 4 biscuits of hay a day
He eats everything I give him with a little bit of hay left. He is only in a small paddock as the place I agist, the privates are fairly small, probably under 1/2 acre, but haven't got time to pull him out of the big share paddocks to feed him twice a day and wait for him to finish.
