    If you place your big rounds on pallets that will keep it off the ground. I'd use two pallets stacked 2 high and nailed together (4 althogether per bale). Invest in a Texas hay net, a small mesh hay net that fits big round bales. It greatly reduces labor and waste. Your hay will also last longer as a horse has to nibble at it rather than grab big moutfuls. The faster it goes in the faster it comes out.
