Genesis organic feed?

Hi - considering moving my horse to a barn that feeds Genesis feed. No soy, no mollasses, has oats and peas. I've read good reviews and barn owner loves it/swears by it, but wondering if anyone has first hand experience? My horse CAN be a hard keeper - is currently on a good quality senior feed, but I would consider trying this if we do it slowly. Thanks!

Peas are not good for horses.

I would like to comment on an old post about the peas in GENESIS Organic Horse Feed.

There are different types of starch ie; peas which are considered a resistant starch.

Although resistant starch is technically a starch, it acts more like fiber during digestion than a starch. Typically, starches found in carbohydrate-rich foods such as grains, fruits, and vegetables, are broken down into glucose during digestion and that glucose is used as energy by the body. Much like fiber, resistant starch "resists" digestion and passes right through the small intestine without being digested. Because of this, some researchers classify resistant starch as a third type of fiber alongside soluble and insoluble fiber.

So peas are actually an excellent source of protein and do not cause the blood sugar to spike and plummet. Also, peas are used extensively in Europe.
