Question How much alfalfa to feed??

I have been trying to put weight on my 4 year old TB filly. She is outside about 23 hours a day, with free choice hay in round bale form. The hour she is inside is when she is eating her grain...right now she gets grain once a day, and I'm not sure what it weighs, but it fills about two-thirds of a five-gallon bucket. It is a mix of soaked beet pulp, 14% horse feed (mixture of molasses, pellets, oats, corn, etc.), and right now I add about 5 alfalfa cubes.
I'm going to weigh her grain today so I have some idea of how much she's getting...but what I'm wondering is how much alfalfa I can add. 5 cubes isn't very much, but my filly won't eat them unless you break/rip them into little particles, even if you soak them... breaking them is very time-consuming, which is why I haven't added more yet... But I was wondering how many you need to add in order for it to really make a difference and help her gain weight. Just give me an idea of how many you feed, if you do, so I have some idea.
Thanks guys!

First of all, dividing her grain meal in two, better three servings will have her utilize it much better. Many small meals suits the rather small stomach of a horse better, especially if the grain is such a high sugar/Carb one like yours.
The alfalfa cubes are a pain....seriously. Try to get alfalfa pellets, they soak much faster and are then much easier to mix in her feed.
Weigh your feed. The famous scoop, or coffecan can vary greatly in actual weight I. E. Calories.
Start out slow, 1/2 lb, with the alfalfa, then give a bit more every other day. I feed the alfalfa pellets just as a filler for the ration balancer, but people feed up to 5 lbs of alfalfa pellets.

Why don't you feed alfalfa pellets instead? And yes whole cubes can be very dangerous for a horse to (with out them being soaked)
