    Keeping weight on athletic horses???

I ride quite often, even during the winter. My horse is a seven year old QH gelding that is an easy keeper for sure! But I've only owned him for 5 months and I'm worried when summer comes and the intensity of practices picks up, that he will become too lean. I don't think he will get ribby by any means, but I'm curious about what you guys do to keep weight on your horses?

Also what is your opinion on a lean looking athletic horse? (and by that I mean, it's obvious they are well taken care of, but don't appear to have much fat on them, just a lot of muscle!!!) I kind of like the looks of them, but in my neck of the woods people like their horses thick so I'd really like to know what everyone else thinks!
